Address of the Economic and Commercial Counselor

Welcometo the website of the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office, Embassy ofthe People’s Republic of China in India. Your attention and support toChina-India economic and commercial cooperation is highly appreciated.

Asthe world’s biggest developing countries and important emerging economies,China and India are building a closer partnership for development and expandingour commercial cooperation and economic exchanges. President Xi Jinping’ssuccessful visit to India in September 2014 and Prime Minister Modi’s visit toChina in May 2015 not only took the bilateral relations to a new height, butalso showcased the two sides’ resolve to broaden our commercial cooperation. This will definitely contribute to comprehensive, deepened and balancedChina-India economic links.

Thecomplementarity of China and India’s industries lays a solid foundation for ourcommercial cooperation, in particular, our cooperation in infrastructure, energy conservation and environmental protection, and high technology keeps deepening. In recent years, China-India commercial cooperation has been developingsteadily. The two-way trade continues to grow amid global economic slowdown. Our two-way direct investment also strode forward. In particular, China’s projectcontracting business in India is advancing smoothly. The two industrial parksannounced by President Xi during his visit registered progress in construction.Chinese businesses are reacting positively to the “Made in India” initiative byPrime Minister Modi. Many Chinese enterprises have made study tours to India toestablish industrial parks, making cooperation on industrial parks a highlightin China-India investment.

Thisyear, amid weak demand and sluggish growth worldwide and increasing regionaleconomic divergence, the Indian economy has picked up. Fueled by expeditedinvestment, low oil price and a string of economic reform measures, the economyhas regained strong momentum and became one of the few highlights in the worldeconomy. India enjoys broad market potential, unique advantage in cost, and anever-improving business environment, while China encourages Chinese businessesto “go global” and promotes the Belt andRoad initiative for international cooperation on production capacity. Thiswill generate broad prospect for China-India trade and economic cooperation.

Weare dedicated to promoting China-India bilateral trade and economiccooperation. We will inform Chinese businesses on India’s economic realities, policies, laws, regulations, and market dynamics. We sincerely hope that ourwebsite serves as a window for you to know India, and contributes to strongercommunication and cooperation between the business communities of the twocountries.
