Subject: How to Avoid Losses Causedby Email ID Hacking in International Trade
Dear Indian Companies,
The Economic & Commercial Counsellor’s Office of Embassy of the People’s Republic of China has recently received several complaints on trade disputes caused by email id hacking. Most of the cases go like this:the Indian companies who have placed an order with the Chinese companies receive an email from the Chinese companies saying their bank accounts have changed and asking the Indian companies to send the money to another account.However, when the Indian companies inform the Chinese companies about the remittance they are surprised to know that the Chinese companies have neither sent the email on bank account changing nor received the money from the Indian companies and the email must have been sent by some hacker.
To avoid such trouble and losses, the Commercail and Economic Counsellor’sOffice would like to remind Indian companies take the following measures in doing busines with Chinese companies:
Firstly, do confirm with the Chinese companies through telephone after receiving such email informing bank account changing;
Secondly, once informed that the Chinese companies have neither sent theemail on bank account changing nor received the money, contact your bank promptly
and ask the bank to hold your money;
Thirdly, inform the Indian local police;
Forthly, keep in touch with the Chinese companies and ask them to do whatthey can on their part.
